Volunteers Build Bears for NYC’s Youngest Readers at Tiffany & Co.’s Annual Bring Your Child to Work Day

On Thursday, April 23, Tiffany & Co hosted their annual Bring Your Child to Work Day with a fun-filled day for their employees’ children. Kids of all ages had the opportunity to engage in activities that included creative jewelry craft stations, meeting an engraver, group yoga, and more! Literacy in Community (LINC) was honored to be invited to host a Reading Buddy teddy bear decorating station.

At LINC’s mini “build a bear” workshop, volunteers decorated Reading Buddy teddy bears for distribution to LINC families. LINC representatives talked about how important it is for all children to have access to books AND someone to read with them. Volunteers were thoughtful in their decorations and earned a real sense of pride knowing that their Reading Buddy bear would bring joy to another child.

Over 50 reading buddy bears were adorned with messages like Read to Me and I Love Reading, along with cheerful stickers and colorful drawings. These bears will be distributed as raffle prizes at upcoming LINC workshops and programs.

Take Your Child to Work Day is an internationally recognized event that falls on the fourth Thursday in April, providing children with exposure to their parents’ work environment and broadening their perspectives. LINC is thrilled to partner with Tiffany & Co. on this important day – one that fosters the confidence and resilience that kids need to succeed.
