Demelza first came to LINC as a Very Involved Parent (VIP), joining our staff as Queens Community Assistant before taking on additional responsibility as Community Coordinator and again in her current role as Community Manager. In this role, Demelza supervises the Community Coordinator, works with families and VIPs, and coordinates with external partners and the organizations in the Reads initiative. As a former VIP, Demelza is so proud to see other people and families in the community doing the same work that got her involved with LINC. She loves what she does and loves telling the people she knows about the importance of early literacy. Demelza was born in Guyana, and has successfully encouraged her family there to attend some of our virtual events. Outside of work, Demelza loves spending time with family, hosting game nights and cookouts or barbeques. She also loves to travel. Her favorite children’s book is I Like Myself! She learned about it from LINC and she loves the message.
