As the Community Manager, Alma works with Inwood and Washington Heights families, partners, where she shares books, activities, programs, and read-alouds. She also serves as a bridge between families and community partners, connecting families to resources and services in the neighborhood. Alma first came to us as a parent participant, learning about LINC from a Very Involved Parent (VIP) who was her daughter’s classmate’s mom. Alma then became a VIP herself before joining our staff. Prior to her time at LINC Alma was an elementary school teacher with a special focus in biology in Puebla, Mexico. She loves music and reading, especially books with a positive message or ones about ecology. Her favorite children’s book is “love you forever” by Robert Munsch and “The pigeon needs a bath” by Mo Willems.

Alma is passionate about empowering families in their children’s education, and is always looking for fun and educational ways for parents to fall in love with reading and use it as a fundamental tool for their children’s bright future. She always works with her team so that the right to reading reaches every corner of Inwood and Washington Heights.

Alma was born and raised in Puebla, Mexico, is a mother of 3 girls that love cuddling with mom for a read-aloud time.
