More resources for New York City families!
That’s right. Learning Heroes’ Go Beyond Grades NYC Back-to-School campaign launched on Thursday, September 17th.
From Grades to Growth: Helping NYC Students Thrive contains resources designed to help NYC families start the school year with a fuller picture of their child’s learning and practical tools to connect with teachers, understand what their child is learning, and plan for continued growth.
Why Go Beyond Grades?
Grades are important. But they don’t always tell the full story.
87% of NYC parents believe their child reads at or above grade level and 81% believe their child is at or above grade level in math.* Yet, only about 50% of NYC students are on grade level in reading and 57% in math.**
Grades, test scores, classroom work, teacher feedback – and what you see at home – all help create a more complete picture of your child’s progress.
Start the school year strong. Here are three ways to support learning:
- CONNECT with your child’s teacher
- KNOW what your child is learning and how they are doing in school
- PLAN for what comes next
LINC is proud to collaborate with Learning Heroes on this campaign and share these resources through our programming. Together we can create greater coherence for families and partners across the literacy landscape.
