Family Reading Only Grows on Deloitte Impact Day

On Friday, June 5th, LINC was honored to participate in Deloitte Impact Day 2026. Led by Board Member Will Estilo, Deloitte sent 24 volunteers to Nuestros Niños Day Care Center in Brooklyn for a delightful outdoor literacy program. June is FROG month at Literacy in Community (LINC), which is an acronym for “Family Reading Only Grows.”

Volunteers jumped right in and helped with tasks big and small – from setting up stations, to registering families, and prepping special FROG giveaway bags. One brave volunteer graciously donned LINC’s iconic frog costume and happily hopped around, despite the heat.

Families engaged in songs, gathered for a special read-aloud inspired by our FROG theme. The hilarious book I Don’t Want to Be a Frog was read in English by two volunteers from Deloitte and in Spanish by Ingrid Matias Chungata, the Executive Director of Nuestros Niños.

After the read aloud, families independently explored literacy activity stations and had the opportunity to play fly swat sound game, jump around during syllable hopscotch, and create a frog finger puppet.

After reading, jumping, singing, and dancing, families received a goody bag that included a new book, read aloud tips, and a list of recommended sing alongs with hand movements. At the end of the program, they all had a chance to win fantastic raffle prizes – thanks to Deloitte.
